Foot Orthotic (Customised Insoles) Therapy – The Sole Clinic

Foot Orthotic (Customised Insoles) Therapy

Foot orthoses, also known as insoles or shoe inserts, are apparatus designed to support, align, prevent or correct deformity, as well as improve the function of the foot. They can be custom made or prefabricated. Custom made foot orthoses, which are specially tailored to the patients’ foot type, weight, sport and footwear, can achieve better control and comfort than a standard prescription. At The Sole Clinic, we use state-of-the-art 3D scanners to map out our patients’ foot profiles accurately. This enables us to customise the insoles/orthotics to fit our patient’s feet comfortably. To find out more about how customised insoles/orthotics can help you, kindly call one of our friendly podiatrists.

Orthoses can have one or more of the following benefits:

  • Reduce pain or problems in the lower limb by offloading, correcting and/or supporting the foot. This can include conditions such as flat feet, bunions and clawed toes
  • Improve balance, especially in children with flat feet
  • Improve shoe fit and comfort
  • Improve weight distribution and posture
  • Improve chronic and acute sports injuries
  • Eliminate low back pain originating from leg length inequalities
  • Prevent future problems associated with lower limb abnormalities

Depending on the materials used, orthoses are generally durable and last as long as eight years. They are easily transferable between different types of footwear. Foot orthoses which are prescribed accurately can be comfortable and essential in your daily activities.
